transplanted nishiki willow

I had to relocate a 3-year old Nishiki Willow after a wind sheer disturbed it. A few of the roots were cut in order to remove it from the tight spot it had been in (along side my house). I used a root stimulator and, after planting, watered it lightly. The soil was already moist from the storm. I gave it a good watering the next day. The willow has started to brown and looks worse today. Is this just stress from the transplanting? I am afraid to mulch around the base of the bush because I am not sure if it needs the moisture to be locked in at this point. I live in Michigan. I love this beautiful, beautiful bush!
