Watering Container Grown Arborvitea

StoopGardener

I live in NYC where the sun and heat has been oppressive the past several weeks. I have a recently (about 1mth) planted Arborvitea growing in a container on an east facing stoop. It gets full sun from morning until about 1PM. I have been watering everyday because of the heat and little to no rain. During one stretch of particularly intense sun and heat, and when I was away for a couple days, the arborvitea develped some brown tips. Another tenent in my building is concerned that I am overwatering, but I am concerned that the shrub will get more brown tips if I don't. So am I overwatering? Also, the color of the shrub seems to have lost some intensity, the green seems a little faded.
