Look at the dirt, see if it is moist or not. Poke around and look beneath the surface. And if the situation is such that the root zone is getting hot that can produce problems even if the soil is actually being kept moist.

crikey man.. insert finger .... and figure out if its wet or dry.. water accordingly ... we can do no more than guess.. and that and a nickle gets you 5 cents[of which you will owe 4 to the city on an internet tax charge...lol]

how big is the plant.. how much bigger was the pot from the pot it came in .. whats the potting media ... is it up against a brick wall in the sun ... on a cement sidewalk.. etc..

and a picture would give us a heck of a lot of info ....

you really havent given us many facts to talk about with you ...

EDIT: your base problem is that many such plants... offered at retail [especially bigboxstore] are SEVERELY rootbound in the pot they came in ... and as such.. sometimes water can not even get into the center of the root mass ... and you are left guessing as how water is moving thru the roots .... hence all the pot questions.. and media... etc .. and i cant tell you any more blatantly.. than you are going to have to figure it out... its either wet or arid in there .... neither extreme is good .... tell us what you find.. and we can help from there ...
