Shrub/small tree ID?

This has been bugging me so much that I made an account here after hours and hours on google. I don't have a pic yet but I'll post one as soon as I can run by this bush during the day.

I've found 3 shrubs laden with yellow/orange berries with dark spots. Leaves are obcordate, almost fan-shaped and small. The berries/drupes have 2 or 3 seeds, are about the size of really large blueberries, and have a texture similar to maraschino cherries (I only tasted because they might be poisonous). They're almost like tiny persimmons without any astringency.

Anyway, if that rings a bell please help me out. I'll get a pic as soon as possible because nobody has any idea what this is.

I should mention that one specimen is about 8 feet tall, the other two about 4. Growth is thin and scraggly and dense.

sounds like a hawthorne, maybe parsley hawthorne, but need some pics of the bush and leaves as well as fruit. That fruit may be too large for a hawthorne, though.
