Low Light Fast Growing Bushes

Posted by gwbuff 5-6 (My Page) on

Hello, I have an open spot in my yard that I want to fill in with privacy bushes that can grow really fast in low light. I would like them to grow really fast of course, but to be honest, I'm not even concerned that they are particularly beautiful, they are just for privacy. I've heard bamboo, azaleas, lynwood are good.

Any ideas for zone 5-6 (western New York)?

some bamboos are invasive... so you will need to research the full latin name of any that you are contemplating ... if in fact there is a z5 bamboo ...

is there any chance you could give us some more fats as to size.. sun if any .. soil.. transplant size.. etc ....

IMHO ... nothing grows FAST in shade .... whether things can tolerate shade is one issue.. but growing big.. fast is usually not going to happen .... but i will be corrected if my opinion is wrong

RE: Low Light Fast Growing Bushes

I have dogwood bushes under my mature ash and mature norway maple that have put on more than 3 feet of new growth this year. They Must have large amounts of water to grow this well.

Dogwood Bushes directly under 50+ foot tall green ash.
