Eleagnus Dying

I live in central Texas. I have had 3 of these shrubs appear to die within a couple of days. I use these shrubs in my backyard to provide privacy and they are ~6 ft tall. I know it has been hot but we have been watering them. We do not water them directly but to the roots around the outside of the shrub. We have lost 3 so far and another one in the line appears to have caught whatever it is...has anyone had this and what can I do if anything??? Thank you.

Probably too wet or too dry. Dig near them and look at the soil, you may be surprised.
