Need evergreen shrub/tree suggestions

I have done endless research on an evergreen shrub/tree for my site. Some may remember my japonica mountain fire question. Well my husband planted them in full sun so we'll see how they do.

In the photo, you'll see the 3 japonicas. This is off the left front corner of my house. I planted a diablo ninebark in between the far left and middle japonica.

I would really appreciate some suggestions for an evergreen to put behind the remaining japonicas. This would be directly to the left of the house, in full sun, all day. I am in southwestern pa, just east of pittsburgh.

I also need something that is deer resistant and tolerant to wind as this will likely exposed to wind during the winter.

I want something that will get some height to it. I know most evergreens will continously grow, I don't mind pruning it back. The greater concern is that it will be near the foundation. I initially considered a pyramidal shape but not sure if that will be too harsh as right off the corner of the house. So more cone like might be better? maybe more than one? I'm lost and such a newbie at this.

I really like the oak leaf holly. I considered the emerald green arb. but they are very common around here and was looking for something a little different. There were quite a few cedar varieties that looked nice. There are just some many options that I am getting myself overwhelmed and not getting much work done b/c I'm on the internet!

Thanks so much in advance.

Here is a link that might be useful: Front of our house

I think you'll find that the Pieris will do very poorly in full sun. Not a good position for them.

My standard hedge shrubs for deer have been boxwoods and hollies. Have both the common box and dwarf English in full sun and the deer hate the smell (as do some people)--I really don't smell it in the ground and the dwarf English are very close to house foundation. There many types of hollies available that might be useful as long as you are okay with pruning. (Dwarf Burfordii, China Girl/Boy,)--I wouldn't use "Nellie Stevens" as they get big. One of my favorites is the native Inkberry "Ilex glabra" I believe--very nice conical shape. Have fun!

Hollywood Juniper would be perfect for you!
People plant them on the side of their house in just the situation you have.
They are also drought resistant when established.
I have one on the corner of my house in the southern heat poor thing, and it is doing fine so far.
See pics of them online in google, they are truly cool looking!

Hollywood Juniper is not a dwarf.

...eventually assuming tree size: 45' tall and 37' wide in California; to at least 35' tall here

Use this tool to select plants based on application, moisture, soil, light, size etc. requirements. You can even select for deer resistance.

Its more intended for zones 5 and lower, but zone 6 will give you ton of options. This is one of the best sites I have ever found. The only negative I'd give it is that is doesn't always have the "newest" cultivars.

cmw21,
Hollywood Junipers have an extremely low growth rate, about an inch a year.
That is why everyone plants them right to the side of either an entrance way to a home, or on the side of a home.
My hollywood juniper has barely grown since I bought it last November.
Great deep green color too.

Degroot's Spire, They grow very slow, do well in southern exposure, and do not spread too wide. Plant one that is 5-6 foot tall size in B & B form. The have very nice foliage. Just keep them well watered in properly draining soil, and they should do fine
