I am looking for a fast growing Evergreen shrub with/without flowers. Although flowers would be nice. The size should be somewhere between 6ft tall and 5ft wide. It will receive morning shade and hot afternoon sun from 1:00 - 6:00. It will be placed beside a hedge row of Golden Euonymous.

Cleyera might be nice. Really glossy leaves. Also Yuletide Camellia, but it may be too hot for it. How about Osmanthus fragrans? There are a ton to choose from in your zone that I'm not familiar with.

Also, how about a sago? (Cycas revoluta)

Thanks Dave! I appreciate your help. I like the idea of Camelia. Very pretty. I'm looking for something that is 'fast growing' `Do they grow fairly quickly. The sago didn't excite me too much. Cleyera sounds fine to me too.

Though not an especially fast grower, the camellia will eventually get much larger than the area you have available. And it would not be terrifically happy in 'hot afternoon sun'. Cycads (sago palms) are not hardy in this area and cleyera is uncommon here, although you can sometimes find ternstroemia (related to cleyera), but again it will get large eventually, needs even moisture and would prefer some afternoon shade. I'd suggest Choisya 'Aztec Pearl'. A hybrid form of Mexican orange, this tends to be smaller and more compact in form than C. ternata and features narrow, lacy foliage and a profusion of fragrant flowers in spring with a repeat bloom in fall. Happy in sun, drought tolerant once established and deer resistant.
