Small Hedge Plant Selection to compliment Vibernum Tinus

We have a hedge of Vibernum Tinus and are looking for a small (up to 50cm) hedge to grow in front of it preferably with a bit of colour (reddish?) to grow in full afternoon sun. Can anyone recommend something suitable?
