| My front beds are coming along nicely thanks to suggestions from GW. Have added hydrangea VS which is blooming nicely and now some Weigela Fine Wine as well as a Fothergilla, agastache cotton candy etc. Would never have even considered any of these on my own.
Need a small shrub to plant in front of a clump of Rudbeckia goldsturm. Should not be higher than 2 feet (so as not to obscure the Rudbeckia). But can't be too short either since there is a foot high boxwood hedge at the edge of the bed.

Follow-Up Postings:

| Basal foliage clumps of 'Goldsturm' makes it a frontal plant itself, as are hostas, daylilies and so on. |
|
| I had considered moving the Rudbeckia forward so that it becomes the frontal plant and instead planting something behind it. Its a large sized clump though so if I do go down that route, won't do it till next spring. Most of any hosta would be obscured by the hedge and not a huge fan of daylilies. I haven't been able to settle on the right perennial to fit that spot thats why I'm considering a shrub. Currently has lobelia scarlet fan which is a beautiful red but is too tall and now flopping over. |

| I've got a suggestion... lovely little cultivar: Deutzia nikko. You can keep it to any height you want, very easily. No problems with shearing it as often as you like because it blooms on current growth. Dax |

| Miclino, my first thought was the same as Dax. I love my Deutzia gracilis 'Nikko'. They have beautiful white flowers in late spring and then the foliage stays nice and green with small leaves. It's a tidy little shrub. |
