| In my small yard, I have two large yew's on the left side of the house that take up most of the space on that side, and I have boxwood shrubs on the right side. In between the yews and the boxwoods is a 'hole' with nothing there. Any suggestions for a shrub that would bridge the gap between the yews and boxwoods? I will be cutting the yews back to about 4' in the spring, and the boxwoods I am going to shape to be about 3' tall. I've been trying to post a photo from photobucket but no luck so far. I was thinking of an oakleaf hydrangea. The area gets full sun to part shade and faces west. Thanks for any help you can provide. |

| Although I would want some color and some pop in such a hole, I think it would be out of place with a yew/boxwood line. Maybe a holly such as Ilex mesaerve 'Blue Princess' would provide a slightly different texture yet still go with the flow. If you want to improve the overall look, consider making the bed deeper and adding a front layer of smaller colorful shrubs and perennials for some interest and curb appeal.
