| My mother has a wonderfully scented white butterfly bush, I want to plant lavender or purple flowered butterfly bushes but would like one that is fragrant as well. I have room to plant a cluster of three, I was thinking of putting in two that are taller with one that is shorter in front.
I looked around online for some info and these were the purple flowered varieties that I found: Nanho Blue or Purple, Empire Blue, Fascination, and Lochinch. Which are the most fragrant and vigorous? I live in Ca zone 9b or Sunset 14 and the place in my garden I will be planting gets dappled morning shade and full afternoon sun. |

| This plant is a pioneering species that dominates open habitats. It poses an ecological threat to dry-land meadows, open slopes and dunes, dominating these sites as much as Scotch broom has historically. It also invades reforested sites, resulting in a loss of forest productivity. |
