Here is one in my yard that is 25" wide and just under 7' tall. It has been in the ground for 4 years and was about 4'10" when planted 30" from the fence. It came from Home Depot. The fence is East-West so it gets sun all around (well, not the back). Shoulder to shoulder in a "wall" they could be on 2' centers, 30" for a little more space may be healthier. Depending on orientation, they would shade each other.

GG's are conifers not shrubs ....

Probably 4' apart on centers

I just put mine in at 3' apart on centers in full sun for a privacy wall.
