Went to a nursery yesterday..JUST TO LOOK. Really. I thought I could start pricing for the shrub border next to the new fence. I knew they were having a sale, but I also knew that I didn't want to plant anything until fall.

Well, all I can say is thank goodness their camellia stock was non-existent because I didn't have any more room in the car. Came home with three euonymous (two Manhattan and one Pauli), two crape myrtles (not for border), one Taxus cuspidata 'Capitata' (boring, but a nicely colored evergreen with soft needles for the back of the border) and three fothergilla. Have them parked in a semi-shady spot where I will water until ready to plant. Even better, everything was 30% off-saved $63.31!

Camellias should be in in September. Yippee.

ahhh for lack of disposable income..

i have found.. that i save 100% if ... I JUST DO not GO LOOK .. LOL ...

now.. good for you ... but why are you bragging to me ... i hate euonymous .. i cant do camelia .. nor crepes .. and i dont have fother's ... though i used to have a taxus.. but it died ...

No, it was actually a perennials post, I think-the one about what we haven't planted yet, but since I bought shrubs, well...

I hear you on the 100%-my husband didn't buy the "Look, I saved 30% on these" either, but since I pay for the yard stuff, he never complains.

I agree that euonymous aren't exciting, but they will give me the green background I need and help obscure the already almost invisible chain link fence that the new neighbors are angry about, so with luck, it won't be too long before they can't notice it at all.

Whaas, I was astounded at how little inventory this place had at this point. Good for them and good for us when we do find something we like! Of course, I can always find something... ;)
