Yes, you can grow camellias from seed. Flowers will not necessarily be the same as the parent(s). And have patience.....it can take a long time (5-7 years) before you achieve blooming maturity.

Be sure to read the link that gardengal attached. You'll learn that the seed must mature on the plant in order to be viable. The pod will crack and you can remove it from the plant at that time.

A good friend sent me a freezer bag of over a hundred seeds, wrapped in moistened sphagnum sheet moss. He told me to store the bag in the fridge until spring. It was late spring when I remembered. Every single seed had germinated.
