Pruning Bougainvilleas

I want to shape my Bougainvilleas into small trees. Do you have any tips or links to information on how to accomplish this?

And is there a way to do this without leaving the trees devoid of colored leaves?

Thank you for taking the time to read my question.

See the 'Growing a Bougainvillea Standard' section, about 2/5 down the page, and the sections just above that, in the link attached below. Unfortunately, as is explained in the article, the graphics are missing. You can also google 'bougainvillea standard' for lots more information.

Here is a link that might be useful: Bougainvillea Information by Gordon Braswell

brandon7- thanks for that link. What a fountain of info. I've overwintered one up here for several year and picked up several pointers from that article.
