Have any weed killers been applied nearby? The curling and chlorotic look of the leaves in the center of the picture can both be caused by either "drift" of sprayed weed killer or from being absorbed by the roots. Might be the cause...

My first thought was herbicide, too.....perhaps a 'weed and feed' fertilizer.

Thank you for your replies!! We have not sprayed but perhaps someone nearby did? If they have been sprayed what can I do? Can they recover or will they die from this? Thank you so much!!!!

If indeed the cause is herbicide only time will tell. If it wasn't an overwhelming amount the plant should recover and leaf out normally next season.
