| I have two Dwarf Winged Burning Bushes that we planted in the spring. One has a white powdery substance 'scattered' over the leaves. It's not on all leaves or even completely covering any leaves, but it certainly looks like it shouldn't be there. I've searched and can't find any mention of a disease like this that affects the Burning Bush. What do I have and what do I do about it?

| Probably Powdery Mildew. The trouble with common names is that I'm not positive which "burning bush" you mean. However, the the more usual reference to Burning Bush is the the scientific name for Euonymous Alata(pron: you- on-ah-mus). Below is a link with a picture that might help you. |

| Ann, I don't know where you live (your member profile doesn't say), but chances are good that Euonymous alata is invasive in your area. You might want to check with your state's EPPC or appropriate state agency. If you find out that it is, use this opportunity to get rid of a sick plant that is responsible for quite a bit of environmental damage. |
