HELP caterpillars attacking red twig dogwood

I just noticed tonight, that a red twig dogwoog that I planted in early summer is being severely de-foliaged by lots of whte caterpillars with yellow undersides, about 1" long. What are they and what do I do? I have several of the same dogwoods around my property, none of the others are being bothered and no other shrubs or plants are being bothered.

Not caterpillars but sawflies. Dogwood sawflies to be more precise.

Even so, they eat leaves just as do caterpillars. So the idea is to get rid of them. When plants are of a reasonable size, flicking into soapy water works. Or cut them in half.

It's important to know that Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) used against caterpillars won't work against sawflies.

I have them too and was wondering what they were.
