We recently bought a house and I've been trying to identify the shrubs growing on the property. I moved to zone 8 from zone 6, so all kinds of stuff grows here that I'm unfamiliar with. Today I saw a shrub with a tag that said Escallonia, and it looked a lot like this one that is growing in a foundation bed. However, when I googled it, I read that Escallonia has thorns, and this doesn't have thorns. If it isn't Escallonia, can someone ID it for me please? Thanks.

Yes. The common one with this appearance is 'Donard Seedling'. Nurseries here sell it incorrectly as 'Apple Blossom'. That is a different variety, like 'Frades' (another common one) in construction but with the same type of flower coloring as 'Apple Blossom'. I have only seen the true 'Apple Blossom' at the Seattle arboretum. The planting froze down one year and the cultivar may no longer be present in the collection.

Thanks bboy! I'm so thrilled to find something here that is going to have pink flowers. The previous owners seem to have had a thing for blue flowers and blue foliage. And the house is gray, so it seems like they were afraid of clashing or something. Can't wait now to see this in bloom next year.
