I bought 3 small plants last spring and they are now smaller. I had to replace one. The edges of the leaves are browning and I have seen no new growth. They get morning sun and are out of drying wind. They have been watered - soil and drainage is good. The only info I have found in searching the Web is how easy to grow and carefree they are. What could my problem be? Do they need a specific PH?

This tends to go away once this plant has established a good root system. From my observations, this plant does not like to dry out. If the root systems dries out, it shows up in the leaves as you have described. This is common with newly planted shrubs as they have artificial soil which if allowed to dry out is difficult to rewet. The plants in my garden did this the first year, but now they are fine, even in full sun.

These shrubs seem to be extemely slow growing. I also planted three in the spring. There is still no noticeable difference in the size of the shrubs, although they look healthy. Hopefully, they've spent all summer growing a strong root system and will come back strong next spring.

I could not be more pleased with mine. I am in Northeast Ohio. I know another person in my area with the same great result. Mine has atleast tripled in size across one year. I bought a 3 gallon. I noticed the 1 gallon ones in my nursery looked as you are describing. Sorry I could not be much help. All I can say is give it plenty of water, but I have not given mine anymore than anything else. Good luck!
