It would be too difficult to get anything to grow under a tree like that. And since boxelders are about the world's worst tree, how about removing it? The wood is weak anyway, they reseed like crazy, and you have to deal with the bugs. We had one at our last house and my husband wouldn't pay to remove it, so I was happy to move to get away from it.

The latin name for it is 'acer negundo'. I call it 'acer no-good-o'.

its in the maple family.. and that says it all ...

I took out several trees this past summer, but I just could not bring myself to get rid of this tree. It is on a far corner of our property, so I don't really have to worry about bugs. Besides its ugly looking root suckers, the tree itself actually looks pretty nice. I decided to plant some raspberry bushes that I took from my father's garden beneath it. I know raspberries need lots of sun, but this variety seems to do well planted under large apple and plum trees. I am going to take a chance with them.

if its way back in the corner.. dont rule out the middle of the lawn.. for a smallish tree that can block the trunk..

right now the box you are in .. is focusing right at the foot of the tree...

there are other ways to hide it from your favorite vantage point..
