spiders are one of the best POSITIVE predators in the garden ... a 'beneficial' as they say ...

i will not tolerate them on the porch.. where i sit ... but they are not something i am going to hunt down and slay in the garden ...

the term 'icky' .. tends to make me think more phobia.. than an insect problem ... relax.. enjoy them for the beauty they behold... they arent going to jump out of the bushed and suck your blood.. but that aside.. they are incredible architects.. if you take the time to look .. rather than hit them with a flamethrower ...

your conifer has some other damage.. that is not related to the spider ... dwarf alberta spruce ... might want to try the conifer forum

any chance i talked you out of wanting to kill them all ???? otherwise.. use a broom to just get rid of the webs .... [though the neighbors might start talking about you sweeping you shrubs] ...

Spiders are everywhere; they spin webs in any opportune spot to catch prey. If you can't stand to do it with a gloved hand, take a broom and wisk them away or knock them off with a hose. Picture #1, has probably caught something like a moth around which it has spun more webbing... but I doubt it had anything to do with the little patch of defoliation. The rest of the pictures show nothing any worse for wear - to my eye anyway.

I don't think we're seeing spider mites here; hopefully one of the pros will chime in.

Most of the webs I see on your pix have funnels, so not spider mites. Think of them as protecting your shrubs from other insects.

All your webs are from spiders, not spider mites.

To safely destroy the webs, use a broom.

But understand the spiders will build new ones. As has been said, spiders are a normal part of our world.
