they are conifers.. and they are trees .... and that is where most of those experts hang.. if you dont find the answer you want here ...

this time of year.. i cant believe any transplant needs daily deep watering ... except maybe in the deep hot south.. but i dont know where you are ... and i dont think the south is that hot now .. this year ... but i doubt its lack of water ...

and if you did 50 ... i hope you had some realistic expectations that some would fail ...

You don't have to water every day unless you literally just planted them.
OMG, 50? That's a lot of digging.
And a lot of mulch. You did pine mulch them right?
That helps with the moisture around the trees.

1) Yes, figured that some would fail. And I bought at Lowe's which has a 1 year guarantee... so really not that worried. Even w/o the guarantee, they were cheap enough that it's no big deal.

I ran the drip line every day for the first week - was told to keep watering them, etc. It was a dry spell anyway, and so I had no idea not to do that. But it's cooled down and the watering has turned off for the past 10 days or so, just because the temps are down, etc.

I haven't mulched yet, bc I am not entirely sure which mulch to get - dont want to affect the sod that is nearby.

They look fine.Handling them can bend or break some branching. Its the overall color that you pay attention too. Arbs are tough and I would expect that you would lose none of the 50. They do like mulch and a light hand shearing will keep a nicer shape and prevent breakage.
