| The front of my house faces south east and has partial sun but we have a sycamore tree on the front lawn so I guess its partial shade (i don't understand the difference.
We have mostly all green shrubs and want to add some color. It is a walk way so something low growing. Right now we have 5 junipers in a row that do not seem to be doing so good so we would like to replace them. Could you also recommend an arrangement for this straight narrow walk way (it also is directly in front of the house in front of a walk way) or should it be 5 of the same plant like we have now? |
Follow-Up Postings:
| Junipers require full sun. So, when does the area get sun, morning or afternoon? Or is it dappled shade the entire day? And what zone are you? |
| I live in central nj so I think it is zone 5? It gets morning sun. Also the sycamore tree is tall but not as dense as some trees(not as many leaves so it does let in some sun) I think it gets about 3-4 hours of sun per day. |

| For a low growing flowering shrub with some color you can't go wrong with a My Monet Flowering Weigela. If you want a flowering evergreen I would go with a Pieris Japonica. |
| The Weigela might not have enought sun to flower well, and a Pieris, unless you get one of the few dwarf ones, will certainly get too big. It will also require acid soil. And if you have acid soil (and don't have deer), an azalea or small rhododendron would also work very well. Rare Find Nursery has awesome selections. |
| Dwarf mountain laurel or leucothoe might work. |
