What is killing my euonymous?

Hi there -

We've got a euonymous that has been very healthy (as far as I know) since it was planted about 5 years ago.

I just noticed that something is attacking it - I'm assuming some sort of bug or disease that is killing off the leaves and covering the woody branches.

Hopefully you can see the pics. Can you please help me identify this disease/pest and help suggest a remedy?

Many thanks!

Looks like a scale infestation. Below is a link with information, pictures and suggested controls.

that that is why i gave up on this useless plant long ago ...

the problem is endemic to all versions of the plant ... and not worth the effort to eradicate it.. IMHO

be done with it.. and find something better
