forsythia

Hi, I have a couple forsythias. They do great. The problem is I can't find an answer on when to prune my one forsythia. It blooms twice a year..reliably... every year.
It blooms in the spring, when all the other forsythias are blooming, and then it blooms in Oct/Nov. So if I'm supposed to prune it after it's done blooming, I'm still going to be cutting off the next set of blooms...
Sooooo, when do I prune this plant. And yes, the plants that I have gotten off this bush also bloom twice a year.
thanks,
Barb

If you prune by cutting the only the largest stems to the ground, you'll only lose a little bloom and you'll keep the plant in line. I'd do it right after the spring bloom. That's the correct way to prune forsythia anyway.

Forsythia blooms on second-year+ wood, and as lacey sez prune right after bloom. Don't prune new stems.
