It's so hard to find the perfect crape myrtle

It seems like whenever I see one I like in the nursery, the size it says on the tag is not the same as what I find on the internet. The 1st one I was tempted by was called True Blue, but I can't find anything about it on the internet. I'm tried of the typical pink you see everywhere and this one was an unusual bluish lavendar. Now I leaning towards something red...maybe Victor or Chica Red, but the sizes vary by quite a bit on the internet. I'm hoping someone here has experience with these or others that would fit my requirements. This isn't the best picture, but I want to put a CM on the left corner of my house. I don't want to have to trim it to keep it from getting too tall and I want a shrub variety because I don't like keeping the twigs trimmed off the bottom of the trees.

Anyone know if Victor or Chica Red would work for this location?

Laurie

There are even miniature kinds on the market. Pick one where growing taller than you want would represent an explosion way out of the typical range and try that. If you don't find anyone offering dwarf kinds there order one through the mail.

Mature heights of trees and shrubs are only representative of their potential growth in a particular set of circumstances and in a certain time period. Characteristics will vary with climate, soil type, etc. Also, woody plants don't just stop growing at a certain height, so be aware that your plant is very likely to eventually get larger than what you see on the label or on an internet site. The best way to pick out a color is to visit the nursery when the plants are in bloom.
