Big loss, great sale

Rare Find Nursery has been one of my favorite for woody plants, with a fabulous selection of Rhododendron, azaleas and magnolias especially, as well as many natives. Hank Shannen, the owner and a Rhododendron expert, died unexpectedly, and they are fighting to keep the nursery open. I have no connection with Rarefind except as a customer. From an email I got today:

As many of you know, we lost Hank Schannen, the owner of RareFind Nursery very suddenly in the middle of September. RareFind Nursery was Hank's dream, and we are committed to continue carrying out that dream. We need your continued help to make that happen. Take advantage of these sales and help us by supporting the nursery - it's a win-win for everyone.

Save a little (or a lot) of "evergreen" with our sale prices!
Evergreen Azaleas are 35% OFF from October 7 through October 31, 2009.
Conifers are 40% OFF from October 7 through October 31, 2009.
Perennials are still on sale at 50% OFF until October 31, 2009.
Please note: All sale plants must be shipped or picked-up no later than November 21, 2009.
We appreciate the many messages of condolence and support.

RE: Big loss, great sale

I knew of the loss of Hank, but I'm not aware that they are struggling. I believe they have a capable crew, but I may be out of the loop on that.

Their current sale is in lieu of previous fall's 'Dog Sale's. They advised me of this in August at the HPS/MAG Valley Forge sale.

I've already long since made and received all my fall orders, but why don't you phone or email them?
