nannyberry viburnum vs. cornus mas

We are looking to add some landscaping to our front yard for some privacy. We are putting in some mint julep behind either nannyberry viburnum or cornus mas. In my research I cannot really find a big difference besides color and flowering dates. We have narrowed it down to these two species because of the height that they offer. I am not too crazy about the berries as I figure they may make a mess. Other landscaping colors I have in the yard are pinks, yellows, and purples. Does anybody have either of these in their yard and if so what is your experience? Any input would be greatly appreciated as I do not have experience with either.
Thank you!

Also to clarify, we will be placing mint julep junipers directly behind either one to form a "wall"

Tell us where you garden, in order to provide decent advice.

These are quite different plants. I grow both (in quantity), and I have enough property to do so.

If I knew where you are gardening, I'd be able to suggest "absolutely not that one" or "only this one". Without that, I can't.
