| In another one of my moments of weakness - I stopped by a local plant vendor along the road (southern maryland) and bought 2 of the same plants. The dude said they were called "Moses Firey Coat" (or something...) They are NOT burning bush... They kind of resemble Tamarix... but they are not "woody". They are soft and fluffy. They are 2.5 feet tall... The tips of the branches of long, tiny, purple flowers... I've never seen this plant before. He said they are "hardy", will come back each year... do NOT die back to the ground... and will grow to approx. 5 feet tall.
I immediately came home and Googled every name variation - trying to find this plant - but no dice. Any ideas? Thanks... Meadow Lark |

| Look up Amaranthus tricolor, a tender herbaceous plant, not a shrub. Sometimes called "joseph's coat". |
