Just bought me one of these shrubs to plant in a mixed border - Supposed to be a really nice small shrub, with fragrant white flowers and good clean form. Anyone growing this?

I grow the 'japonicus' and 'obasia'. Never heard of the 'americanus'.
Can it be better?

I bought a S. americanus Kankakee form from Seneca Hills Perennials a few years ago. It's supposed to be tighter and less rangey than the straight species. Unfortunately, that wonderful small nursery has closed its doors. My styrax has yet to bloom. I also have S. wilsonii, a very heavy bloomer.

You can get it from Lazy S'S farm. $11.00 is a bit steep for a quart pot, but I'll try anything once. The Kankakee form is the more hardy Northern form.
