Help with variegated weigelia

I just bought 2 variegated weigelia on impulse and now that I have them home I have no idea where to put them. Do you guys think they would look good on either side of 3 wine n roses weigelia? Thanks!

Yes: white variegated shrubs are excellent with purple-leaved ones. Plant all of one kind together in a group, rather than in a checkerboard fashion - with individual specimens of each kind in alternation.

Key term: interlocking drifts.

what do you mean by enterlocking drifts? I know what a drift is, but never heard of an interlocking drift.

This is how my wine n roses are placed

And I was gonna place the variegated weigelia at the ends like this

x=wine n roses
v=variegated

Not to try and confuse the matter, but my variegated weigelas are yellow variegated. I particularly like them with purpled leaved or flowered plants, like barberries and purple flowered buddleias. If you look carefully you will see that the stems are red, and so are the leaf margins. Because of this, I like red berried or blooming plants near them too, like dwarf nandinas.

I also have wine and roses. These are virtually identical in size to my variegated ones. Thus, you may not be able to see your variegated one behind your Wine and Roses.

All this being said, my variegated weigelas are among my favorite shrubs: beautiful all season long and carefree.
I have often wondered if there are any appreciable differences between the red flowering one that has "Lace" in its name and my faithful florida variegata. (I hate getting old and losing my mind..)

Donna...I am thinking of adding a yellow variegated Weigela to a border near a Summer Wine Ninebark in the spring. How large does your variegata get? 'French Lace' is the one you are referring to, right? I guess I am looking for one that has a creamy, golden variegation instead of a white variegation. I also need something that stays around 4 feet or so. It seems the variegata has pink and the 'French Lace' has deeper rose flowrs?

Here is a link that might be useful: Discussion of variegata vs other variegated cultivars

RE: Help with variegated weigelia

I'm thinking of planting a variegated weigelia plant in front of my townhouse (Ontario, Canada). I get full sun most of the day and it can get hot. Would this be okay for this shrub? Also, if I wanted to plant a small shrub on either side, what would look good. I like the pink shades.

Thanks for any advice.
