Just purchased iteas

Just bought 3 3gallon Iteas (Henry's Garnet) for $4 a piece and was hoping to get in the ground today but too much rain will make the clay impossible to work with. Can I plant these in a raised bed (nursery pot and all) now and wait until spring to move them? Am I better off waiting a few days and planting them in the ground w/o their nursery pot? Keep 'em in the non-heated garage?

Thanks in advance!!

RE: Just purchased iteas

its all about drainage ...

in my sand.. i would just stick them.. pot and all ... in the ground ... with little or no fear of water filling the pots.. and freezing the roots into an ice cube ...

if your raised bed can do that.. you should be all set...

NO PART OF THE POT SHOULD BE ABOVE GROUND .... so no sun hits and heats the pot ... if need be... un-pot and add some soil to the bottom.. so the top of the soil is slightly above the pot ...

all that said.. why do you need the pot... just unpot.. stick it in the raised bed.. and plant it properly in spring ...

just do it.. whatever.. and dont worry about it ...

IMHO .... anything in mother earth is better than in the garage ...

good luck
