variegated lilac

my dB says its :Aucubaefolia ‘Dappled Dawn'

but my gut tells me it is: SYRINGA VULGARIS 'DAPPLED DAWN'

i give up... was there a name change from syringa??

i will post some pix as a reward for a GOOD answer ...

I don't think Acubaefolia is a genus name. I bet it's something like Syringa acubaefolia 'Dappled Dawn'.

No. Syringa vulgaris 'Aucubaefolia' (double flowers) and Syringa vulgaris 'Dappled Dawn' (single flowers) are apparently two different but often confused cultivars.

Brandon is correct - these are often listed as synonymous cultivar names but there is a distinction in flowering pattern as noted. But both are selections of Syringa vulgaris.
