 o
shrub ID please

This shrub is a mess but its fall color is very pretty. Does anyone know what this is so I can prune (or not prune) it in the future?

Thanks!
Maria

That looks like forsythia. If it is forsythia, now is not the time to prune it or you will lose flowers for next year. Prune it right after flowering.

Really? Forsythia turns amazing colors like that in the fall? I'll have to go look again. There was another forsythia nearby but it didn't have any leaves left on it..... BUT it had flowers. Go figure.

Thanks for the ID!

Yep ... that's Forsythia.

I had that color this year ... and fall bloom as well.

We missed the Spring bloom this year ... maybe the Fall was a makeup.

I wasn't 100% convinced until I saw a picture of a Sunrise Forsythia in autumn. I never knew that some varieties had fall color. Astonishing.

Thanks for the confirmation :-)

Mixtures involving purple and yellow are usual here. Really the fall color is what I like best about the non-variegated forms.

Bboy-What? Forsythias come in a variegated form TOOOOO???? I never knew forysthias did anything but be the first to scream "Spring is here!" I've learned several new things with this search for an ID. :-)

Thanks for the additional confirmation.
