| would my evergreen Prague Viburnum be setting blooms now? There are bunches of several little nubbins at the end of many branches, so I'm wondering 1) if they are bloom buds and 2) will they survive till spring. Know when it should bloom in Maryland halfway between DC and Annapolis.
I planted it in '07 and I haven't seen any booms yet. Wondering if last years extreme cold killed 'em or if I missed 'em. |

| Yes, they set buds during the summer. They will bloom next spring, April here in 6b. Last winter's severe temps did not faze mine. Zone 5 hardy You can see buds clearly on the right side in this

| thanks, paula in pa that exactly what mine looks like, except your shrub seems to be fuller than mine, must need a bit of pruning. I'm guessing that shold be done immediately after flowering? |

| That's not mine, it's a pic off Missouri Botanical's site. Mine is not a foundation plant, so it's growing to it's natural dense form.. I've never pruned it. It does well here. Yes, prune after the flowering. Don't shear it. |

| Generally I agree with not shearing, but I've seen V. x pragense sheared and it looks surprisingly good. For a tight evergreen hedge, not bad at all. Scott |
