| Hi all,
I am still trying to label a specific cultivar of pyracantha that I really like. Here are the photos.
Pyracantha I love and would like to purchase:
Pyracantha I have, that look like all of the ones available at the nurseries. Note the upward growth habit and short branches that go in all directions, and the clumps of berries rather than berries growing all down the branch. Berries are larger and more orangey than the other too.
The first type blooms prolifically in the spring, it is more graceful and cascading, and the berries are not clumped together as tightly against the branch ends. The berries "nod" downward rather like cherries, whereas mine look almost like papayas growing out from the stem. Leaves are finer and smaller on the unknown variety. Mine get a thick single trunk and is a bit top-heavy, whereas the unknown cultivar seems to stay bushier at the bottom.
Sorry my powers of description are so pathetic. Any guesses would be much appreciated.

| It reminds of one I planted today. |
Here is a link that might be useful: Victory Pyracantha

| I do like the first one too. The leaves look a bit more like a P. koidzumii variety than a P. coccinea. So you might start there...maybe 'Victory' or 'Santa Crus'. |
