| How will Weigela perform (Rubidor, Polka, Red Prince, French Lace, Carnaval) with early morning sun (dappled), full sun late morning until about 1 pm, slightly dappled and then full shade late afternoon? I've only had these in full sun.
Also wondering how Pieris will do in the same conditions. I've lost one to full sun, and the other is in mostly shade and does fine. And, do they sell these anywhere in any size other than 1 gallon pots? They're so slow growing...I can't stand the wait. |

| I have a Weigela 'Wine and Roses' in almost exactly the conditions you describe. It is on the east side of a large building, and in earliest morning the sun comes into the area through trees, followed by full sun until a bit after noon. It grows somewhat more loosely than the one previous weigela I had in full sun, but does bloom well and foliage color is good. |

| Weigela should do just fine in that spot. As far as Pieris, they prefer a partially shaded cool spot. That location may work and it may not. They also prefer organic rich well drained acid soil. Keep them protected from the winter sun and winter wind. They can be good growers in the correct location. It isn't the cheapest plant to produce so nurseries sell them in an affordable 1 gallon. We sell them in 2 gallon pots. The Plant Geek |
