help with helleri

I have (had) a beautiful bunch of Helleri hollies - very mature with that nice flowing shape. A yard service came in and when I wasn't watching them, they cut the hollies all into little pillbox shapes. Will they recover and grow back into their natural shape or will they always be stunted after this? Thanks for any help.

Amy

Sure they'll grow back. They'll probably put on significant amounts of growth next year, but it may take a couple of years before they are back to where they were. Also, you may have to do a little pruning/shaping, as they grow, to get the desired results.

Be sure also to prune and shape the yard service.

Actually you probably won't have to prune the hollies.

They also "thinned" my nandinas. Who would cut out red berries in the winter?? I think they're going to have to find somebody else's yard to butcher next year. Thanks for the good news about the hollies.
