Patiently observe what works and doesn’t work in your landscape
Full StoryI planted five small Froebelli Spireas in a row as a hedge in front of my porch on the east side of my house. I spaced them three feet apart, and they receive morning sun and afternoon shade in well-drained soil. Will I be able to grow these spireas into a dense hedge under these conditions? How much should I prune them back next spring (by 1/3, by 1/2, to the ground) to encourage the most dense growth? Please let me know. I appreciate whatever advice you could give me. Attached is a photo after I planted them last spring.
