Never do this....

| This thread is dedicated to any advice you have on something not to buy, not to do or not to try. I'll start with:
Never buy a Frigidaire stove! When we moved here last year we had to replace the stove almost immediately. Now I had a lovely Maytag at our last house that never gave me a minutes grief but hubby wouldn't let me bring it 'cause he said it needed to be sold with our old house.
Anyway, we went to buy a new stove and since we were trying to watch pennies and the Frigidaire did LOOK nice, we decided to go with that. The problem came with the burner grates. Within 3 months they started rusting on the bottom. We took the grates into the place where we bought the stove and they said "well...it's really not our problem because it's aesthetic but we'll help you out 'cause that's just not right".
So they ordered us some new grates (they are heavy cast but it had looked on the first ones like the coating had not been applied to the bottoms and that's where they were rusting) and when they came, they looked just like the old ones so I didn't think they'd last any longer. They didn't. They too started showing signs of rust in a matter of months.
When I went back to the place that sold us the stove, they said there wasn't much more they could do and we needed to contact the Frigidaire company and see what they could do for us. I did. Here's what they said: We're not responsible for rust of any type on our products. It states that in your manual on the next to last page.
I asked her: 1) Why do your grates rust in the first place, I've never had this happen on my other stoves? A) Dunno 2) How would I have known you don't cover for rust if it's in the manual and I can't read the manual before I buy it? A) Dunno 3) Let me talk to a supervisor...NOW! A) M'am..a supervisor is only going to tell you the same thing I have. Have I answered all your questions? Have a nice day.
Never...never...cheap-out and buy a Frigidaire stove.
Have a nice day - Val |

Here's mine: Never sign up for a 2 yr or 1 yr contract with Verizon FIOS. Or if you do NEVER change anything on your order (add or remove, upgrade or downgrade). The product is great but the Billing department is out to get you, oh yes they are. I've called them several times every month every time the bill comes ... there's always something new and strange on it. *mumbles incoherently* |

| Never buy glasses at Lenscrafters. I have several long stories and not enough time to tell them, so just trust me, don't buy glasses at Lenscrafters. You know where my favorite place is to buy glasses ... shhh don't tell anyone, Walmart. I don't shop at Walmart. The only thing I buy at Walmart is eyeglasses. Val, we are going to need to buy almost all new kitchen appliances. I have a fridge picked out and a dishwasher picked out, but I haven't picked out a stove top or oven yet. Thanks for the heads up on the stove... You may be able to take those rusty grates to a machine shop, have them sand blasted and re-coated. I will ask my hubs where you should take them (he is in charge of metal repair...). |

| My granddaughter and I went out to Circuit City this past weekend to buy some cheap movies. I saw so many people walking out with new electronics. As we were going through the checkout line the cashier was telling everyone (no matter what they bought) "all sales are final". Of course this is because of Circuit City going out of business but it made me stop and think - why would you buy such an important purchase from them? I mean, who's going to service it if something goes wrong? It's one of those things that make me go....Never do this. Val |

Never buy glasses at Wal Mart. I paid over $ 300.00 for glasses at Wal Mart, exactly 3 months and two days later the temple broke, then the rim around the lens broke. I took them back and was told they had a three month warranty. What a crock, they were obviously a piece of junk to start with. Go to any company with a sense of decency, Wal Mart is not that company. I would add in my opinion of that company, but there might be women and children reading this. Ken |

| Never pay $300 for a pair of glasses. I buy the cheapest frames and the cheapest lenses and can walk out of there spending about $78 on glasses. |
