 o
algae in compost

Can I use algae mixed with grass clippings and leaves as sheet compost on my garden? My pond is full of the stuff and I can pull it out with a rake. I don't know if it is safe for vegetables, including root vegies. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

As long as it is not one of the toxic algaes that have been forming on lakes and ponds in the last few years, that algae could be a good addition to your compost.

Now or a course in algae identification.
