| Hi there - thinking of setting up my new compost tumbler in a section of my garden and then planting strawberry plants nearby. Any issues with the compost gases contaminating the strawberries?
Thanks much! |

| My one thought that jumps out is strawberries are susceptible to a disease passed from Tomatoes (and I heard Peppers), so I would caution composting any tomatoes or peppers. I could be wrong, but I never compost any tomato droppings or plants because of the risk of spreading blight. Would the compost itself pose a issue, whats the worse that could happen?? Have to move either farther away? |

| I get steam from my compost but never thought there were harmful gasses from compost. (??) |

| The only time you would get harmful gases from a composting operation is if you built the thing wrong, and even then the most harmful gases would be obnoxious and not necessarily something poisonous. |
