finally got some real hot compost going. Rabbit manure and wood chips heated to 160! Been composting for a while and never really could get it much over 115-120. Mixed this stuff and it is literally smoking!

One doesn't even need rabbit manure to get to 160F. I've found a proper mix of grass and shredded leaves will get there. Having finely shredded leaves, and a large enough pile to retain the heat are the important considerations.

Of course, the faster it heats up, the faster you have to turn it! The air and moisture are used up quickly.
