Hello Everyone!

I had a quite adventurous year in gardening this year. I raised tomatoes, eggplants, peppers etc from seed and we have decided to install 4 more garden beds. Long story short my husband did his back, I am too pregnant to shop around but was too eager to put my plants in (Houston has really short season because of the heat) we asked our gardners to do it. Garden beds were ok (5X10 feet) but the soil they placed in was top soil (enriched, not recommended for planting medium only for the lawns by the company) , mixed with something else (mulch and some garden soil) and weed killing spray and the plants started to suffer deeply.
We removed the plants into small pots, asked gardeners to take the soil out. Since I exhausted my budget over this, I purchased garden mix and compost (half and half) from living earth (livingearth.com) and put them in to the garden beds filling 2/3 of these.
We also purchased sta-green garden mix and black kow composted manure (80% by 20%) to fill up the rest. (I had a great success with that mix last year)

When the gardeners arrived with the garden soil and compost in their truck compost was still hot and fuming but no bad smell. I still went ahead and placed it. We transfered the plants and they are doing better than ever currently (we did it about 4 days ago).

I dug a little deeper than where plants are (as I mentioned above, top is very good mix from Lowe's) to check yesterday and it is still quite warm in there. Soil on the top is about 6 inch and the rest is about 12.
DO you have any opinion about the warm compost and the effect on the plants? They all seem doing very well, these are in raised beds so compost (already mixed with garden soil) should be getting cooler soon I guess? What do you think will happen when the roots start to reach down in a couple of weeks?

thank you!

Sounds like you are doing ok.
I mulch(don't tell anyone)my day lilies with green grass clipping & do not have a problem. I do not have weeds in that bed.
