| Wild violet is taking over my garden. I have been pulling them up, roots and leaves. They have been blooming but I don't think they have ripen seeds yet. Is it safe to toss them in my compost bin? Thanks. |

| If your compost gets warmer than 120 degrees on a routine basis, then you can compost anything. If not the seeds might remain viable through the composting process. |
| If you have a sheet of tin or a tin roof, put them there for 10 days first. Then you can compost them. |
| You can and I have and have not seen them root in the compost piles. They will sometimes grow from root movement as well as by seeding, but burying them deeply in the compost seems to prevent that. |
