I just purchased a Growcamp and it is recommended by the manufacturer to use a nursery soil to fill it. A quick google search doesnt yield anything about what nursery soil is, or if it's different than a commercially available garden soil such as Miracle-Gro. Anyone have any input?

I would assume they mean potting soil.

Yes, that's basically a big pot, so you need potting soil or 'container mix'. Regular garden soil or topsoil sold in a bag will not work because it compacts differently.
