Had tree cut down, now ???

Hi, In January I had a huge Maple tree cut down that was old and looked bad. I have a very large area of land with really nice grass. They took all the wood and really grond out the stump to where theres actually more dirt than wood chips, more like wood particles. Anyway, as anal as I am, I have made rolling mounds (like at a golf course) in the past using 6yrds of screened soil in the past throughout the property. Now with this tree gone, I have a huge mound of the gound up stump and dirt. Should I remove it and build new mound, remove some of it, or just soil over it and seed. Its about 15lf in diameter and has been settling since january. Would the ground out stump hurt my top coat of soil? -Thanks

RE: Had tree cut down, now ???

I'm sorry for your loss! I lost a massive chinese elm a couple of years ago to Dutch elm disease. It just about killed me!
Anyway, after yelling at the poor tree cutter that "I HATE sun, y'know!!!!" I asked some questions. One was if I could replant the lawn where the tree used to stand.
They said that enough of the soil was mixed with the stump grindings that we could plant directly into what was left there.
I'll say that most of the area lawned up pretty well, but there seems to be a spot right where the stump was that doesn't seem to grow.
I'd add a couple inches of soil, then plant. Nnacy
