I have some type of weed that is creepy, clinging weed easy to pull out and I am wondering if I can throw this into my compost pile.

Does it have velcro-like attributes and round seeds that stick to everything?
If so, it sounds like what we over here call 'goosegrass'.
If the compost isn't hot, and it's set seed, you'll get seeds germinating (I don't care, just throw down more mulch...)
In Britain it's called 'cleavers' and is having a bit of a revival as an edible weed.
I've never eaten it, and after a childhood spent removing it from my clothes, I don't exactly salivate at the thought.

O my I thought he meant Klingon weed, no more TV for me.....

Cleavers is a wonderful medicinal and useful of lots of skin complaints and detoxifying stuff. Check over on the herb forum for more. When I find it I rejoice, leave it, and harvest it as needed. I react the same to stinging nettle, so call me crazy.
But if you really don't want it, cut it before it goes to seed, and dry it good in the sun, then toss it on your pile.

feijoas - we call it goosegrass too, also 'sticky willy' in some places.

But we really need a picture to know what this weed is.

Before composting invasive plants I usually put them in a black plastic garbage bag and let them 'cook' in the sun awhile. They can smell pretty anaerobic if left too long but they won't grow.

Right now I'm making a pile of my garden refuse, including invasive grasses and weeds and will tarp the pile awhile before adding to the compost. I have too many to use garbage bags.

I have enough weed seeds blowing in, I don't need to encourage more.
