Composted Steer Manure

Posted by Phildeez none (My Page) on

I do not like how my plants in the ground are performing, I did not ammend the soil with enough organic matter or SRF and I would like to add some composted Steer Manure that I have. It is definitely well composted, it smells and looks like dirt with some grass in it and it has been in the bag for a year or so.

Am I free to put a good layer of this compost around my plants? Should I worry about touching it to the stems?

I will be mulching over with straw, but I would like to add a layer of the manure if it will not burn the plants.

thanks much!

If what you have in the bag smells good and is supporting growth, you have no worries. I've done what you describe many times, with nothing but positive effects. Gary
